Chambliss statement on retirement of interim CIA director
Have to wonder if the heat got too great for an interim job? And how wonderful people are when they retire. Clearly, none of the CIA issues we are dealing with today happened on Michael Morrell’s watch, but this is not a good time at the CIA.
Today, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, vice chairman of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement on retiring deputy director and acting director of the CIA, Michael Morrell:
“There are few people in the intelligence community who have had the distinguished career Mike Morrell has enjoyed at the CIA for over 30 years. As Deputy Director and Acting Director, he has led the agency with distinction, through good times and bad. It’s not an understatement to say the world is a safer place because of his service, and we are grateful for his family’s support through his many difficult assignments. I speak for many of my colleagues who have worked with him when I say he will be missed and not easily replaced.”
