An exclusive poll conducted by zpolitics and Ohio-based firm Clout Research has found that former Mayor of West Point Drew Ferguson has a leading edge over State Senator Mike Crane ahead of the July 26th runoff election.

Conducted on Saturday, the survey measured responses from 812 likely voters. When asked who they would vote for if the election were held today, Ferguson topped Crane by a margin of 41% to 35%.

However, pollster Fritz Wenzel of Clout Research notes that the race may yet be decided, as 25 percent of likely voters have not yet committed to either candidate.

“The election will very likely depend on candidate messaging and voter turnout efforts over the next two weeks,” Wenzel said.  “Both will have to work hard to make a favorable and substantial impression with Georgia CD3 voters, as they’ll be competing with slow summer months, when many voters are tempted to disengage, in addition to drama surrounding the Republican National Convention.”

The survey did reveal additional clues to how some votes could fall on election day, as Drew Ferguson’s favorability measured nine points ahead of Mike Crane’s.

It’s worth noting that State Senator Crane has been locked in a battle over the accusation that he is “anti-law enforcement,” which has recently resurfaced after a series of deadly attacks against police took place on Friday.

While Crane is fighting back against the characterization, the degree of his effectiveness could determine the outcome of the election two weeks from today.
