For months, Karen Handel has been considered a major player in the race for Congressional District 6. While she has not yet officially entered the field, but there’s a very good sign that she has every intention of getting in the game.

The AP reported early on Tuesday that the former Secretary of State has already filed paperwork with the FEC. A quick look at her web url, which displays a landing page that says “Karen Handel for Congress” also seems to confirm that an announcement may be coming soon.

Of course, she doesn’t have much time left to hold back an announcement. Qualifying for the special election ends on Wednesday at 1:00 pm.

In December, an early poll showed that Handel has a vast lead over other GOP contenders. A WSB Channel 2-commissioned Landmark/Rosetta Stone survey found that she received 21.7 percent of support, while her next closest challenger- Rep. Betty Price- held 10 percent support.

Price remains another elephant in the room. She announced on Saturday that she’s close to making an announcement one way or another, adding that she has the blessing of House Speaker Paul Ryan if she chooses to mount a bid for her husband’s seat.

So far, GOP candidates to confirm their intention to run include former State Senator Judson Hill, former State Senator Dan Moody, businessman Bob Gray, and Trump Diversity guru Bruce LeVell.
