Pride Fund to End Gun Violence, a LGBTQ organization that advocates for greater restrictions on gun ownership, has issued an endorsement to Democrat Jon Ossoff in the special election to replace Tom Price.

According to the group’s site, Pride Fund’s key issues include expanding background checks, restricting access to assault weapons and high capacity magazines, prohibiting suspected terrorists from purchasing guns, supporting federally funded research on gun violence, and preventing individuals convicted of committing hate crimes from purchasing guns.

Pride Fund was formed after a 2016 terrorist attack on Pulse nightclub in Orlando left 49 dead. In a press release, the group said that they seek to “elect more candidates who will both support LGBTQ rights and take action to implement sensible gun reforms.”

“Pride Fund has thoroughly reviewed the platform and record of Jon Ossoff to assess his commitment to protecting the rights of the LGBTQ community and keeping the American people safe,” said Jason Lindsay, Founder and Executive Director of Pride Fund. “Jon Ossoff represents the kind of leader we need – one who won’t prioritize special interests over Americans’ civil rights and safety.”

The organization is now attempting to raise money on Ossoff’s behalf ahead of the April 18 special election.
