In his first radio interview, President Jere Morehead sits down with Zoller and Bryant today.
As reported in Classic City Today:
New President of the University of Georgia Jere Morehead sat down with Fox News 1340′s syndicated talk show host Martha Zoller and Tim Bryant this Tuesday morning for an interview on his plans as the new President of the University of Georgia. Morehead then heads to his official “Welcome” ceremony on the North campus of the University of Georgia at 10:30 on Tuesday.
In a wide ranging interview, we talked about the capital campaign in the “soft phase.” Also, the status of professors, pay and budgets. His love of the University of Georgia was evident.
Regarding the recent decision by the Board of Regents to not allow UGA Foundation funds to offset domestic partnership benefit costs, President Morehead said, “The University of Georgia has gone as far is it can by law.” He added the rest would be up to the legislature to add to or take away from the the current regulations.
The current policy is employees can select domestic partnership coverage but must pay for it with their own dollars.
I saw President Morehead a little later at the reception on the quad on North Campus near the Abraham Baldwin statue. He greeted me and my 4th year UGA daughter, Suzanne. I must admit, he remembered the things I had told him about Suzanne in our down time in the interview and talked with her about her dreams and aspirations at UGA. As a UGA mom, I loved that.
Here’s the entire interview:
